Damselfly-glamping
ABOUT US
Our love of the sea and a desire for a more paired back life led us to set up home in magical mystical Pembrokeshire on our glorious smallholding.

We knew nothing about smallholding but through our many mistakes and a few victories, we came to love the life style and hoped to find a way of sharing the experience with others.

Heather a skilled cabinet maker set about making our shepherds huts, and Gill set about making a pond and garden, and so Damselfly came about.

We hope that folk can kick back, relax and enjoy nature here at Damselfly and go out and adventure in the hills and on the beaches of this wonderful part of Wales.

THE SMALLHOLDING

The Damselfly shepherds huts are tucked away in a secluded spot on The Marle Cottage smallholding.
Marle lies off a single track lane, nestled at the foot of the Preseli hills, just a few miles away from the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline and close to the beautiful rural towns of Cardigan , Crymych and Newcastle Emlyn. It is six acre organic smallholding with deep beds, a small orchard, a wildlife garden and pond, it is surrounded by glorious countryside and hosts an abundance of wildlife.
Life here is peaceful, with birdsong, and the breeze the soundtrack to the day. We still keep a few hens. but in 2021 we made the big decision to rewild, its a bit of a work in progress but already there are more butterflys, moths, hedgehogs and badgers sharing this space with us.
At Damselfly on warm summer days, dragonflies and damselflies flit over the pond, whilst pond skaters, water boatmen, whirlygigs and newts abound. Bumblebees, honeybees, butterflies, blackbirds, thrushes, and magpies fill the air and at dusk there are bats, and later huge starry skies. Marle is also home visited by badgers, foxes, voles and moles, red tailed kites, buzzards, and a host of smaller birds.Watch out for murmerations at the right time of year.

Life is what you make it, but it’s a bit easier to make it special here.
